TURN OVER A NEW LEAF - DON'T RAKE OR BURN Join neighbors and friends in finding out how to handle large amounts of leaves this fall without burning or raking, piling, bagging or dragging. These easy and efficient methods will keep your lawn looking good and improve air quality while saving you time and tax dollars. Class will be held Wed. October 6th at 7:00p.m. at the EB Shurts Building in Waukesha. Call the City of Waukesha Park and Red at 262-534-3737 to register for this free class. ------------------ Discover Composting Fall is a perfect time to start composting. Use nature's method of recycling and turn the nutrients in those leaves into a wonderful soil amendment. Learn how to reduce your trash by about 1/3 by composting vegetable and kitchen scraps and garden debris. Hands-on demonstration at Retzer's " Discovery Tour and Field Lab". Attendees can enter a drawing to win a free composting bin. Class will be held at Retzer Nature Center on Saturday, October 2nd at 10:00a.m. Please call 262-896-8302 to register. RECYCLING REMINDER Residents are reminded that paper must be separated from bottles and cans when setting out recyclables. The County recycling facility that processes the material is designed to handle the two types of materials separately. Paper, including newspaper, junk mail, catalogs, magazines, carboard and boxboard (cereal, snack, tissue etc.) must be bundled/tied with string or placed in brown paper bags, while the cans and bottles are placed loose in the bin.
