What They Take (Town of Merton Residents Only)

What is Accepted

Appliances: Stoves, washers/dryers, and metal dishwashers to the Scrap Metal Pile next to the gray shed. No charge.

Appliances with Freon $40 (Refrigerator Door Removed, Dehumidifiers)

Ashes: There is a fee to dispose. Garbage cost Minimum $20.

Batteries-Oil-Anti-freeze: Take car/truck batteries to the trailer at the top of the hill.
Oil & Anti-freeze must be dumped into the drums by the resident. Please put any used container in the garbage. Filters go in the marked drums and used boxes must be put in the garbage.

Fluorescent Light Bulbs: All fluorescent light bulbs are $1 or current cost to dispose. Even if they are broken, there is a disposal fee.

Freon Appliances: $40 or prevailing costs.

Garbage - Residential Only (No Contractors): Minimum $20, Truck Load $80, Large Trailer $160.

Material: All material must be less than 6" sections like piers and subject to dumpster charges.

Mattress or Box Spring:  $40 each or contact your weekly garbage collector for one time no charge large item pick up for Merton residents.

Miscellaneous - Residential Properties only: Building materials, wood, carpet, carpet padding, brooms, brushes, caulk tubes, etc.  See the attendant for an estimate.
Material MUST be broken down in no larger than 6' sections.  Minimum $40, Truck load $80, Large trailer $160.

Scrap Metal: Place all scrap metal in metal dumpsterNo fuel tanks, florescent light fixtures, plastic in this area. Riding Lawn Mowers must have tires removed.

Sofa/Sleeper Sofa: There is a fee to dispose. Sofa $40 and Sleeper Sofa $70.

Tires: All tires must be removed from the metal rims to be accepted at the Transfer Station.  The cost to dispose of auto tires is $10, truck tires $15, tractor tires $20.  Please take them to the attendant. 

Paint: Latex Paint dried with the cover removed goes in garbage for a fee.

What is Not Accepted

NO RECYCLABLES or cardboard. Use weekly collection at your house for recyclables and cardboard.  NO CAMPERS, NO TRAILERS, NO ELECTRONICS. 

Hazardous Materials: No hazardous materials accepted. You may take them to the Waukesha County drop off site located in Menomonee Falls or Waukesha. See the link at the bottom of the page for information on hazardous waste disposal in Waukesha County. 

Typical household hazardous waste includes (but is not limited to): gasoline, insecticides, herbicides, pesticides, oil-based paints, lead-based paints, stains, thinners, strippers and products containing solvents.
